ZIMBABWE IN NIGERIA

    It is a place where travellers or simply fun seekers go to unwind from the hustles of the day,located 25km from Abuja,the Nigerian Capital City,situated in the midst of Nigeria yet it is named after the Southern African country 'Zimbwabwe'. Narrating the historical background of the place by the district head of Uke, Mallam Abubakar, he explained that “the name (Zimbabwe) was given by a local musician whose stage name was also Zimbabwe,this musician always performed at this location some time ago, at that time it was called“Upper Uke Market'.

        The environs screams calm with the tall gmelina trees that provides a atmosphere,the blaring music that welcomes one from the entrance,the smell of fresh palm-wine that hangs in the air,Fresh fish and chicken being grilled on the locally made grill,the laughter and chatting that comes from each round table:all these and more are what makes Zimbabwe a happy place to be however,the male strip dancer (although fully dressed) shaking his waist as his band performs is unbelievably real.
          Being in this part of Nigeria (North) one can hardly come across a female dancer performing openly at hangouts and that is why,seeing a male dancer,holding his waist and shaking it vigorously is pleasantly surprising.
