FAMILY AND FRIENDS PAY THEIR LAST RESPECTS TO RUSSIAN ASSASSINATED AMBASSADOR ANDREI KARLOV

   

On 19 December 2016,Karlov was shot and fatally wounded by Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, a 22-year-old off-duty Turkish police officer at an art exhibition in Ankara,Turkey. The attacker, who was dressed in a suit and tie, opened fire at Karlov at point blank range fatally wounding him while the ambassador was delivering his speech in front of journalists and injuring several others. The attacker gained access to the gallery after he showed his police ID to security guards.

        A funeral service was held in Moscow on saturday 24-12-2016 for the country’s envoy to Turkey who was killed in Ankara on Monday. Diplomats and family members gathered at the Foreign Ministry to bid their farewells to Karlov. President Putin,who postponed his end of year press conference, has paid his respects to the diplomat.
